There are a couple local teslas with the “I bought it before I knew how awful he is” stickers and like, okay, I can understand how that might happen. Still gonna judge you until there’s some evidence you don’t suck, but I’m willing to be forgiving on that one.

… However there’s also a local cybertruck with that sticker, and buddy no nobody’s buying it, stop trying to lie your way out of the consequences for your actions it just makes you look even worse. FWIW I’ve seen people throw rocks at the truck twice, so there’s some hope for the future.

Which is absolute bullshit fucking lies.

Cause hes been a piece of shit his entire fucking life. He’s been a piece of shit since Paypal (Which was notorious for stealing peoples money when he was still part of it, hell…probably still is today). The whole “I bought it before I knew how awful he was” bullshit is the equivalent of nazi’s ripping off their swastikas, and when confronted saying they knew nothing but what they’ve heard is awful and terrible.

I know a few very decent people who have bought like 6-7 years back. Especially back then this was just (at first sight, they were paying later when services came…) the best electric car out there. This has changed (BYD etc), and I don’t want to get into the general “cars suck” discussion here. Not my poimt. All I wanna say is that I in no way judge per se anybody driving an “old” model S. Not every average customer did the research and maybe it was a bit more known to the general public in the US than in the rest of the world what a douchebag Elon was let’s say pre 2020. All the newer/Tesla versions and their buyers? They can go fuck themselves because no excuse after DOGE any more. You’re directly supporting fascism. Everybody knows today.

  • I predicted this after his reputation fully tanked when he went full MAGA/ DOGE. Every earnings report is going to depress the stock price more and more, until the floor just falls out, and it collapses.

Tesla is NEVER coming back. It will be bankrupt in 3 years.

People said the same after he did the nazi salute. You guys don’t learn.

      • You guys? As in… Who?

Cause it’s not like there’s some magic place that’s doing a great job holding him accountable.

Thinking anywhere is immune from fascism is exactly how it spreads.

      • 3 hours

The nazi salute is the same time they’re talking about though…

And the stock is starting to tank, because the earnings are shit, but they’ve been way below it’s valuation for ages

      • People don’t even read. They have record sales right now, the issue isn’t that people aren’t buying their cars.

The reason for the tank is because of how much money Tesla is spending on expansion; robotaxi rollout, data centers, and Optimus are sucking up short term funds in seeking out long term profits. Investors and the stock market hate this, but it’s nothing more than a temporary blip.

        • Right but those are all speculative, and unlikely to ever turn a profit. Optimus is a charade.

          • If those ventures fail, they cut their losses and fall back on their cars which are doing wildly well and it’s back to business as usual. They have like 1.5 million active FSD users, nearly half of which are paying a monthly $99. They just added 200,000 more this quarter alone.

Don’t get me wrong, fuck Tesla, I wish to see Elon destitute and miserable. But it’s just not realistic, in my opinion.

In two weeks when SPCX employees can sell, please let them cash out and resign as hard as possible. They’re reasonable intelligent people who know the promises are science fantasy, so this is a plausible scenario. Then, as investors lose faith, Tesla enters true freefall right as fElon tries to leverage his shares to float SPCX. Let this Icarus of Grift come spiraling down so we never have to hear about him or his cultists again.

Looking at short term with stocks is never the right thing to do. Stocks go up and down every day.

You should always look at 1Y and 5Y and as we see for Tesla, that’s … oh.

    Nevermind.

    • Why are Hank and Dale coming back from a Costco trip? Like don’t get me wrong I could totally see both of them going to Costco and Dale getting into some hijinx with their rotisserie chicken or something, but like why?

      • 2 hours

Neither of these men would go to Costco. Dale because they require membership with a photo ID and he doesn’t want to be tracked, Hank because it’s essentially collective bargaining with manufacturers and that’s Communism. (Peggy would absolutely love it, Bobby is excited by all the free samples, and Hank might be swayed by the end of the episode because of the principled stance on what things “ought to cost”.)

ETA: Rusty Shackleford might go to Costco.

  • Oof.

I sold my shares years ago, when Musk started to show his first signs of becoming radicalized. Looks like it was a pretty good call.

      • I’m convinced half of them just aren’t paying attention. You would be surprised how easy it is to just… Not know what is going on.

      • 5 hours

This really perplexes me. Maybe I’m kind of in a bubble.

  • Nobody wants to buy a car from a car company that only wants to build robots in the future.

    • 7 hours

I bought an EV recently, and Ive been asked a few times why I didn’t get a Tesla. There’s a wide range of reasons but the one that’s the most fun to say is “I wanted a car made by a real car company”.

  • Given how the modern day stock market works, does it really matter? I’m sure most of us get elated when a headline like this floats around, but unfortunately Tesla is not going anywhere anytime soon.

    • Yeah… it sure seems like bubbles just… don’t pop anymore.

Turns out the market can stay irrational FOREVER.

  • Yet somehow the asshole is a trillionaire. That don’t sit right with me. tf is going on

The poster’s stance is that one day they hope to see thorns in AI generated text.

This is probably quite difficult to actually happen, as LLMs will see the characters as a spelling mistake compared to their general corpus of text and correct them.

In the meantime it makes their posts difficult to parse and irritates other readers, so surely this can be considered a win for everyone in the fight against AI. /s

          • I feel like it’d be a lot more interesting if they used more random non standard characts like ß, æ, œ for example.

            • 5 hours

Œ and ẞ are very standard in French and German. Both at the same time if you travel to Alsace-Lorraine.

English should be reformed with diacritics, full stop.

              • English mostly dropped diacritics since it made things weirdly complicated inter-regionally in England since some regions used them and others didn’t. Frankly if you’re going to try to reform English through non organic it’d probably be better to just toss the latin alphabet outright and make something new. Personally I’d go with using a derivative of Anglo-Frisian runes personally mostly cause it’d be funny.

        • That character is sounded out as “th”. Looks like what your tounge does when you make the sound.

        • 9 hours

I thought I was the only one. I wanted to Hulk punch the guy over IP.

        • I downloaded for defending a rich person. “His networth is tied up in stocks” is the kinda shit someone says who doesn’t understand that that doesn’t make them any less rich. A trillionaire means a trillion dollars of your shit is owned by him, houses and farmlands and workers and production capacity and art. No one should be allowed to have more than 10-20 million, at that amount they can pick someone to never have to work again in their life every year for the rest of their life. That’s too much money.

          • 5 hours

Not defending, just an explanation, and one that if anything would enrage Elon more.

He’s still an absurdly over-wealthed taint stain, but the specific numbers over that threshold were just not quite as substantial as other (also somewhat imaginary) numbers.

Point in fact, he was a trillionaire, and now he is not, but he didn’t lose anything real. He still has every bit the amount of real wealth and control over all that stuff you listed that he had before, just the number shifted by billions of dollars while preserving every last thing of import that was wrong with his wealth. He is no longer a trillionaire but that means absolutely nothing about the problems his wealth pose in real terms.

At some point, the numbers cease being a thing for meeting their needs, their comforts, and at some point even their every whim and preference they could possibly imagine. It just becomes a score and they peg their egos to the score. This is a level no one should ever be at.

          • It’s not defending a rich person, it’s a statement of fact pertinent to the conversation.

Musk has most of his net worth in volatile investments. The total value of those investments once exceeded $1tn, but have lost value and no longer exceed $1tn. Therefore, he is no longer a trillionaire.

No other implications were made. Stop tilting at windmills.

      • Correction, the SpaceX IPO is what briefly made him a trillionaire on paper. And yeah, that stock is in free fall too. Likely to be moreso when the locks come off for the people who got free shares as employees. If you look at the stock, and the way he set it up (his 1 share is worth 10 of everyone elses in voting power, as well as other weirdness) it’s not a long term stock. No one but a moron or a Musk Stan would keep it.
